Happy Birthday Paul Gauguin

'Van Gogh peignant des tournesols' Paul Gauguin 1888
Paul Gauguin was born on this day in 1848. Here's Gauguin's picture of Van Gogh painting Sunflowers when they were great friends excited about working together in the South of France. You can find out more about Gauguin's life here.

Shortly after this painting was completed the pair had a final violent argument. Van Gogh fled to a brothel and cut his ear lobe, and they never saw each other again.

We're looking forward to lots of sunflowers in Hackford Road and Van Gogh Walk later in the summer, thanks to everyone's help in planting last week.
